Asphodels. Asphodelus. Asphodelus Microcarpus a plant native to Lebanon which blooms in the summer. In Greek mythology it was associated with death and planted on graves. The meadow of asphodels symbolised the place in the underworld where ordinary souls go after death. The Victorian Floral meaning of this flower is "My regrets follow you to the grave".
A beauty with such a dark meaning! These symbols and meanings together with the visual of the flower with a broken spine helped me write this short story.
This story is dedicated to all the people who suffer from memory loss caused by illness, depression, accidents or trauma.
